Creating an Economic Engine at Fair Park:
- Successfully negotiated $50 Million for Fair Park renovations in the bond package.
- Successfully negotiated and established public / private partnership which will create new jobs for local residents through year-round events and activities.
- "Putting the Park back in Fair Park" Successfully negotiated 10 Acre Community Park within Fair Park designed by Dan Biederman, the designer of Klyde Warren Park.
- Brought Exhibit to African American Museum gaining 80,000 visitors and local tourist dollars for: Jefferson's Slavery at the Monticello.
Key Votes Protecting People & Environment
- Opposed Trinity River Toll Road protecting South Dallas & Oak Cliff from flooding and financial burden on residents across Dallas.
- Supported Police & Fire Pension Fund solving 40 year, $4 Billion lawsuit for $167 Million.
- Supported starting pay increase for Police & Fire to $60,000 annually.
- Protected Joppa community from 2 concrete batch plants that would have further polluted air and water with carcinogens.
Economic Development
- Brought 5 new businesses with 50 jobs (Wells Fargo branch, Golden Chick, 7-11, Fast Signs, Bonton Farms Café)
- Supported Bond Package that included street repairs, economic development, housing, homeless solutions, flood control, drainage & more.
- New Housing Development in Buckner Terrace/ East Dallas planned 200 single family homes & 50 new town homes. 10 new town homes in Fair Park.
- Catalyst Project: $20 Million preservation, renovation & expansion of historic Forest Theater complex with new movie theater and entertainment venue bringing additional jobs and growth for the district.
- Additional Forest Theater complex development includes a culinary arts school for high school students.
- $5 Million sound studio including 5 buildings and a park is coming to South Dallas. The recording studio will provide high school internships to learn production skills.
